Riomaggiore is the more Oriental of the
Five Earths after
Manarola. The historical center, whose native
nucleus goes up again to the XIII century, is situated in the valley
of the stream Greater Rio, the ancient Rivus Major from which the
suburb takes the name. The inhabited area is composed from different
parallel orders of houses Genoese towers that follow the steep
course of the stream. The new district of the Station, so called in
how much developed him beginning from the second halves the XIX
century following the arrival of the railroad, it is situated
instead in the adjacent valley of the stream Final Rio (Rufinŕu), so
denominated in how much it marked once the border between the earths
of
Riomaggiore and those of
Manarola
(Manača).
Crossing the line of west coast toward east,
or from Genoa toward the Spezia, the countries that you/they meet
him are in the order:
Monterosso,
Vernazza,
Corniglia,
Manarola
and
Riomaggiore. Of these only
Monterosso,
Vernazza
and
Riomaggiore
are
common, while
Corniglia
and
Manarola
are fractions, respectively, of
Vernazza
and
Riomaggiore.
Monterosso
is the more westerner as
well as the most populous of the Five Earths. Here, in comparison to
the other suburbs marinari, the wider beaches can relatively be
found.
Monterosso
is situated to the center of a small natural gulf,
protected from a modest artificial bluff. To west of the country,
beyond the hill of the Cappuccinis, the inhabited area of Fegina is
found, natural expansion tourist and bathing of the small native
suburb. Fegina is attainable through a tunnel of few about ten
meters; here the railway station is situated and they is relatively
found the wider beaches and you constitute of thin gravel in
comparison to the narrow bluffs that characterize the other suburbs
of the Five Earths.
Proceeding from west toward east, after
Monterosso
to the Sea Vernazza is found.
Vernazza
rises on a small promontory
that wedges him in the sea, attainable with a road that goes down
from the SP "Coast road." The name he believes that I/you/he/she
derive from the Latin adjective "verna", or rather "of the place",
"native", but it is also reasonable that the name can be tied up to
its more famous product, the vernaccia, the local wine. According to
others the derivation would be to attribute Vulnetia, that would
designate a family owner of funds to the Latin prediale. Its dock
guarantees a sure landing in a natural inlet that allows the berth
of half crafts.
Corniglia
is in central position in
comparison to the other centers of the Five Earths, situated to west
of the town chief town of
Vernazza
and
Monterosso, and to east of
Manarola
and
Riomaggiore. You differentiates from the other
countries of the Five Earths in how much the only suburb that doesn't
directly lean out on the sea is, but it is found on the top of a
tall promontory around one hundred meters, surrounded from vineyards
set on characteristic bands terrazzamenti except the side that looks
toward the sea. To reach
Corniglia
is necessary to climb a long
stairway he/she dictates Lardarina, constituted by 33 ramps with 377
steps or to cross the road that connects her/it to the railway
station. Besides Corniglia is united to
Vernazza
from a suggestive
walk it posts to half coast between the peak and the sea.

Manarola
as the other Five Earths, are
narrow among the Ligure Sea and the steep mountainous chain that it
detaches him from the Appennino and it goes down in direction
southeast. Sets aloft on a promontory in comparison to the sea, the
country it develops him in the throat, dam among two rocky spurs,
that it goes down toward the sea entertaining a small landing. To
west of Manarola we find other three suburbs of the Five Earths or
rather
Monterosso,
Corniglia
and
Vernazza, while to east
Riomaggiore
is found only. Among the five suburbs it is the smallest after
Corniglia.
The suburb rises in the terminal line of the
valley of the stream Knot. The residences lean out a shelter to the
other on the principal street, said Alternative and constituted by
the coverage of the course of water.
On the coast of the Coast of East the Five
Earths confine with the communes of Levanto and Portovenere. The
hinterland of the coast confines with the communes of the Spezia on
the Gulf of the Spezia, of Riccň of the Gulf, Beverino and Pinion in
the Val of it Launches. In proximity of the Five Earths there are
other places of suggestive interest as Campiglia and Sunsets.
